Men are Slave to the Na-Na

My Other "R": Real Sh*t for the Day

I am SOOOOOO tired of men saying its "natural" for men to lust for women, fuck a countless # of women, be unfaithful, fuck women carelessly etc etc. It is not natural!! According to who??? Its all socialization!! Lemme break it down right quick:

In a society that has always been male dominated, men have always sought to marginalize the worth and status of women. Many men treat women as conquests, not people. As a hole- pussy hole, mouth hole, or whatever other holes you down low brothers like to stick your penis in.So, from the beginning of time in this western culture, it was made socially acceptable for men to be hoes (essentially) and unacceptable for women to be. It was made socially acceptable for men to have sex as early as possible, with as many ppl as possible. After all, if you dominated society, wouldn't SEX be of high importance lol. We all like sex and 99% of us partake (some of us more than others lol). In addition, men that do not partake in this behavior are stigmatized, being accused of being gay, soft, a symp, etc etc.

So men lust for breasts, ass, lips, thighs, whatever and blame women for their lack of self-control lol. Talk about not taking responsibility!! As someone who loves having sex, but has been socialized to believe that excessive sex is "unlady-like", I exercise self control DAILY lol. I know this is easier for women, because we are socialized from birth to believe we shouldn't have a lot of sex so it doesn't take as much self-control as it takes for men, who are socialized to believe the opposite. Boo hoo though. Men would accomplish so much more and build more fulfilling relationships if they took the time to look inside themselves and find the strength and courage to 1) take responsibility for their actions and admit their slave state and 2) exercise self control and do away with what you've been socialized to believe is right. (This is just as true for women btw, except we must deal with issues that have socialized us to fit a certain image, fawn over money, depend on men, and keep us in an inferior state essentially, but that's another topic for another time).

This ni**a needs 2 take responsibility!!
Most men are slave to the pussy. They do not know how to say no to the pussy, which is why many men get caught up in drama with these scandalous females. Stop saying we as men must conquer pussy!! Nooooo, you choose to do so!! Why am I a hoe but you're not?? So as a man, you don't have to honor your body?? As a man, your body count doesn't matter?? Doesn't speak for your character?? FOH. Just because you do not know how to shun ass and titties, don't say it is natural!! Take responsibility and admit you're slave to the pussy...GO HEAD.....I'LL WAIT....

In my anthropology class, my professor was talking about his experience in Belize or Malaysia or maybe some South American country where women walk around topless. He told us how his girlfriend (of that culture) doesn't understand why our culture (American) is obsessed with breasts!!! She didn't understand why American men went ape-shit over the sight of breasts lol. Socialization sweetie. So, to every man who thinks their uncontrollable obsession with breasts, ass, and careless and casual sex is natural, I ask, why aren't men of that culture SOOO sex crazed?

Fuck Love

I been lost in my own thoughts for too long.
Wandering around, now I'm too gone.
No flashlight or road map
just two strong companions on this journey with me
trying to help me get my soul back.
That is, reason and emotion.
Now my devotion's with the first
but my ocean is the thirst created by the latter.
The river flow that goes when hearts shatter...

I am a confused bit.
Cuz I don't know how to find the amusement
in this delusion of life and love.
Isn't it just an illusion if we fight then hug?
Or is it what's meant to be and
how do I even know what that is??
If I've never had good sex,
how would I know what bad is?

I want it so I try to get it.
I'm waitin cuz the key is patience.
I feel it so I fall up in it.
I'm thinkin so my walls up rigid.
I'm stressin cuz I'm second guessin.
I question til I hear confessions....

This game is not for me.
My brain is faltering
and heart is still aching.
Yearning, and lately
its been learning to be more open,
but not quite enough.
I'm battling my pride but the fight is tough.
But time continues and the truth shows its ugly grin.
Then I realize just where I need to begin: from scratch.
I don't know Jenny from Jill,
shit I really don't know jack.
I'm just gonna wait and see
who waits for me and
I will explore so graciously
'til I find whats great for me.
Its not sooner so I guess love's late for me.
And cuz I'm a lover all I attract is hate to me.
I'm waiting patiently cuz the wait is worth it.
So when you do capture my heart
I'll know you deserved it.

I don't know when this will be or how it will come about.
I don't even know how I will know that you are the one.
But at that time, I'm sure the divine
will let it be known.
And our spirits will intertwine
and become whole.
And our presents will rewind and unfold
into a beautiful future....once told.

I'm sure the universe will freeze for a split second...
It'll seem like my soul escaped my body and hit heaven
and an orgasmic elation that equates with
that same magical sensation will feel present.
And I will know...

I will know that love is also an action, not just an essence.
I will know that love embodies our physical presence.
As long as we stand together, it is but destined.
I will know that this thing that has manifested
is nothing short of real.
I will then be able to touch everything I feel.
I will then, be able to TOUCH everything I FEEL.

Until then, FUCK LOVE lol

Race: Harnessing Anger in Black Communities

Black people are by far (it seems) the angriest race in America. Many of us can be very quick-tempered, especially amongst the impoverished. Poor Black people have a right to be angry though! We are in communities with absent fathers, inadequate jobs, inadequate schools, and a "street" culture that glorifies drugs, violence, material wealth and ignorance. Of course women are angry because they are raising children on their own. Men are angry because society berates them and presents every obstacle imaginable to hinder growth and prosperity. Children are angry because parents are absent. Everyone is telling us that it's our own fault. They say that we have been presented the opportunities to thrive in the ghetto. There are schools, books and programs to help us succeed. BULLSHIT!! What good are scholarships if we don't have guidnace counselors, adequate teachers or books to help us make it through high school?? Are we supposed to forget that our friends maybe drug dealers, our parents may be drug addicts, we may be taking care of younger siblings, and that we can't even afford basic neccessities at our homes such as food and clothing??  BUT you still wanna blame the victim and say we have been afforded equal opportunities?? FUCK OUTTA HERE!!

I'm angry my damn self and I made it out the inner-city to a university. I'm angry for my people man. We are in communities that force us to have harsh attitudes and instead of loving our neighbors, we compete with them and distrust them. We are taught to fight for what is ours (which is understandable considering that resources are limited in innercities) and to defend ourselves from the excessive and unwarranted violence of the innercities. Its a kill or be killed attitude whether you like it or not.

This anger becomes ingrained in us though and it is detrimental!! Anger is a force that can isolate the individual and also have harmful effects if uncontrolled. Anger can also be harmful to your body, increasing blood pressure and stress levels. Not to mention the inevitable violent conquests you will have, which in this day and age, can result in a gunshot to the head. Many times too, people get angry over the smallest things!! There is no need to fight over a pair of Jordans or because somebody at Walmart bumped you. Angry outbursts will only intensify your problems and give the world another reason to call you a nigger.

Harness this anger. Use the energy, emotion and passion you feel at these times to produce something great. For example, I rarely get angry but a gentleman made me angry when he lied to me and laughed it off. I wanted to cuss his ass out forreal!! Instead I gathered up all the energy I felt at that moment running through my body and started blogging, writing, and just perfecting some projects I had been working on. That energy I felt at that moment was put to great use!! Its hard but worthwhile. Nothing in life is easy so man up and stop overreacting in anger because it is counterproductive and a waste of energy. Many things do not deserve an angry reaction from you! You are a child of love and a child of a Higher Power (if you believe) and anger is for the weak at heart!!

I understand there is alot of built up anger and aggression and it seems like ppl love to test you!! Its only because they fear you and want to blow your cool!! Don't let them!! Harness your anger related to abandonment, poverty, death, hurt, despair, suffering, abuse, etc etc and let those passionate feelings overwhelm your being and put that energy into a productive project!! Writing, painting, playing with your kids, developing goals, playing a sport like boxing or football, finding a job, doing homework, whatever it is that you know you need to get done!!

Religion: Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus (Spoken Word)

My friend posted this on my facebook page. It really changed by outlook on Jesus himself. I always looked at Jesus as the symbol for Christianity. I don't support organized religion and Christianity is the worst in my opinion!

As I listened to this poem though, I gained a better understanding of the man Jesus. Jesus as a man, was dedicated to love and faith; dedicated to the ppl. However, Christianity as we witness it today, is not engulfed in these concepts. Its way too political and dedicated to concepts such as greed, perception, and power. Now, I'm sure some of these Christians really do have a strong faith in God and a strong love for Jesus but religion makes one believe that there is an outline to be followed and there are do's and dont's of righteous living. I say, follow the guidance of Jesus.

Understand and accept your imperfections, while working to improve upon them. Love yourself and your neighbor. Build a strong relationship with your God. There is no right way or wrong way. Church attendance doesn't negate your impure and untrue actions and desires. Only you and God TRULY know your heart. Do not let another man ( a man who bleeds and sins like us all) dictate what you believe, who you love, how you act, right from wrong, or anything else.

Just know anything institutionalized is meant to conform the masses.

BET Ruined "The Game" (but its still my ish lol)

Soooo The Game is premiering tonight and I know everyone is excited. I'm not even gonna see it until later this week unfortunately but I know we're all hoping this season is better than last.

I never understood why ppl said they hated BET until they took over The Game. Leave it to BET to ruin a good ass show forreal. I mean they had Tasha on TV smoking Black and Milds and gettin high like she was just some ghetto rat. The show had crazy drama in every single episode...not subtle with it AT ALL. I guess they thought having a couple celebrities on there would add something. BET helloooo obviously we liked The Game just the way it was!! We appreciate the expensive props and design but please leave the writers and producers be PLEASE.

BET just seems like they are trying to satisfy an unhappy Black audience that they are totally not in touch with because BET is all about their bread, not the community. All in all, I just want The Game to get back to having the hilarious Tasha and Kelly, the cute and real relationship of Derwin and Melanie, and I want to feel connected to the characters. The show doesn't have to be SUPER dramatic episode in order for us to keep interest!! We just like the story and the characters. FOH BET lol

Rap: Drake as the Leader of the New School

"....Second album I'm back paving the way/The backpackers are back on the bandwagon/ Like this was my comeback season back, back in the day"- Drake: "Over My Dead Body"

Sooooo everybody been going in today about Drake since Common released his diss on the Stay Schemin beat. Damn, everybody was a Drake fan like a year ago, 6 months ago, 3 months, last week lol. I was a new listener to Drake actually, when I came to Cleveland in 2008. I really didn't become a fan until recently, maybe a year and a half- 2 yrs ago but even more recent, I gave him this label as "Leader of the New School"

First, let me start off and s/o my nig @coolazzpat because he been said Drake was gon' be something like a Founding Father for this new shit and he really is though!! Let's face it, hip hop is going through that change once again. You know it started as dance music, rebel music, gangster music, crunk music etc. I mean since about 2000, the lyricist has been losing his credibility and beats, gimmicks and catchy hooks are so much more important and profitable in the mainstream world. Drake has all that, minus the gimmicks add the talent! Drake brought back lyrics and substance to mainstream hip hop. Shit he might as well be one of those lyrical/conscience/backpack niggas but he is YMCMB, what more do you want from him!?!?! Of course they are gonna water you down as much as possible to get that money. This is Baby and Wayne we're talking about c'mon now.

This new generation of rappers who are young, intelligent, lyrical, full of swag & creativity, and sexy af i.e J. Cole, Big Sean, Wale, Big K.R.I.T, Nipsey Hussle, Diggy Simmons, ASAP Rocky etc etc are slowly invading the mainstream and the gangsters and gimmicks are slowly fading out the limelight. I mean the $$ makers & music illuminati knows who buys music: college students, white people, and girls. That's why there is a shift in mainstream content and style; so it can appeal to the target populations. Now, of course there will still be room for the gangsters but only the real and already established will survive.

Drake started something crazy and y'all cant be mad and hate now trying to say he's gay because he's emotional,  blah blah blah all da other shit insecure men say. Now as far as the beef, that comes with the territory. Drake is a worthy opponent because although he is new to this, he has already proved he does this i.e grammys and great albums/mixtapes at the age of 25. Drake is also probably the most consistent rapper nowadays! I've never heard a wack verse and if you need a hook, the only guy I MIGHT call besides Drake is Cudi. He's worked with all the top artists and his solo projects are just as engaging and relatable. I mean, does every rapper have to come from the hood or can ppl come from humble beginnings?? Shit talent is talent and he's probably better than your favorite rapper.

Religion & Rap: Mind, Body, and Spirit

As I'm sitting here listening to Nipsey Hussle's Marathon Continues mix tape for like the 3rd time in a row, a fluster of thoughts/epiphanies (as I like to refer to these sudden realizations I have all the time when deep in thought) are running through my mind:

1. Nipsey Hussle is that ni**a! When the f**k is he gon' blow up! This man is definitely sexy, talented, and enlightened as f**k! He is definitely in touch with [my next thought/concept]:

2. Mind, Body, and Spirit. First let me explain that I do not identify with any specific religion. Many times people automatically put me in the "atheist" category. I am not an atheist! I have a very strong relationship with My God. I do not have anything against atheists though because I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but let me not go off on a tangent.

We've always gone by this little slogan right: Mind, Body, and Spirit (MBS). Being strong in MBS, healthy in MBS, alive in MBS, etc.  So I'm thinking this ancient slogan is so true! Its always the eldest, most simplest s**t that holds the most truth right? That's because everything that America and this westernized and capitalistic society teaches us is watered down shit to distract us from strengthening our MBS. We have a sense of these things, because the things that American society teaches us makes us SLIGHTLY aware of MBS.  Let me explain further:

Especially if you come from a public education, and even worse if from an inner-city neighborhood, the education system is horrible. The curriculum is racist and very skewed. The resources, including technology, books, space, and teachers, is limited. The unqualified teachers may just be the worst but I attribute that to the broken spirits and lack of love apparent in the human population.  That's just 1 quick example, but it explains the weakening of the individual's minds in America. Now for the body:

In life, we must preserve our body. This includes being alive, healthy, and prosperous in our endeavors, enjoying the wealth of the world by satisfying our hearts desires. First we must remain healthy, especially impoverished people. We have to eat the right foods, visit our physicians, exercise, have safe sex, stop over-indulging on drugs, alcohol and anything else that harms our bodies! Basically, we must stop indulging and feeding into the images and concepts that America emphasizes in our society. Money, sex, drugs, and fast food lol. These are but tests of the body that we must overcome in our lifetime by simultaneously strengthening our minds and :

Spirit. I am apt to say that this is the most important aspect of MBS to overcome but maybe it is just the most difficult.  Being strong in spirit, in my opinion is being aware of self. I know ppl probably hear conscious ppl say things like this all the time and the best explanation is, in my opinion, doing what the fuck you want (s/o to Drew for that lol). If that is not a good explanation for you, google self-actualization and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. In America, they emphasize individualization i.e freedom of speech and religion, and press blah blah blah which is why we are SLIGHTLY aware of our Spirit and our self. We are nowhere near free in this country and most ppl are zombies and so out of touch with themselves it is sad. The exploitation of Spirituality through organized religion and the capitalistic and money-hungry nature of America has left the individual so absent in spirit it is sad.

Now, Mind, Body, and Spirit all connect with each other and by America weakening each one of these things simultaneously in society, and fast as f**k through a process called socialization (that muthafu**a), we are so lost in MBS it is disheartening. In life, if we can simultaneously work to overcome the challenges we face in mind, body, and spirit, we will reap the benefits of a fulfilled soul and joyful lifetime and will probably end up in whatever afterlife you believe in. This is hard as f**k though lol.

Nipsey is definitely powerful in MBS and it is apparent in his success as well as his lyrics. He definitely says some of the most realest s**t I have ever heard and he's got bars! Talent. IDK why he isn't hot yet. I'm just awaiting it because he is too hot to be slept on and he sparked this epiphany/post lol. Marathon 1 and 2 are both must listens, especially for people who have lived that life and are really not trying to be about that life anymore lol. No but really, his music is motivation music to get your grind together. Nipsey always shows love to his Christian faith on his tracks through stories and bars and his lines definitely show that he is very educated and aware. He is just one display of what constant work in strengthening the MBS can yield.

Some of my fave Nipsey tracks:

1. You Don't Got A Clue
2. The Mansion
3. Tommy Gunz
4. A Million
5. They Know

A Little Bit of Poetry

RIP Grandad 1/3/09.... I actually wrote this after my Grandad passed in relation to the passing of numerous ppl in a short span of time, but yesterday reminded me of this piece.

Todays present isn't a gift
when ya presence passed.
And the only happiness that lasts
lies in ya pleasant past.
I don't know if you left me in hell to fly above
or if u escaped the flames to find love
But either way I'm here
left to suffer in fear
knowing that the end is surely near
but never close enough.
Cuz you're already gone
and I can't even cope enough
to express how I feel
cuz I haven't said anything but still feel like
I've spoke enough.
To feel that God's being selfish
would be selfish of me.
And to hate that you're in heaven
would be hellish of me.
But I think I'm jealous of thee
cuz I'm livin in a world now where
pain comes like clockwork
so I stay fried like bratwursts.
Losin lives is like losin socks or
losin wives...
Its just one of those things that
becomes normal over time.
Tears shed through hardship
is some hard shit to swallow.
Heart mirrors the dead
cuz whats left is all hollows.
And its sad that our paths
only lead to tomorrows
but that's all you can believe in
when the days after may not follow.
Thats why I'm praying for today
and to overcome last week
cuz that load is big enough
to make me crumble to my feet.
And they say the world is mine
cuz I live humbly and meek.
But I'd trade this world fast
cuz it lacks the love I seek.
And I'd use the shirt off my back
just to wipe ya tears away
Stand bold and ferocious
just to scare ya fears away.
I'll see u shining bright
once all ya fears astray
cuz I swear a little love
could really last for years away.
But with u not here today,
I regret all the fights.
All the sour days we argued
that led to bitter nights.
Its hard to see the good in this
cuz when u left u took my light.
But my faith would never lie
God don't deal in maybes and mights.
So as I pray for strength and courage
and to make it past the pain
I know God has opened his umbrella
to help me shelter out the rain.
And I know your spirit's watchin
cuz I felt u on my brain.
So instead of u, this tragedy is slain
and your loss, becomes a gain.

Rap: Fabolous: There is No Competition 3 Death Comes in 3's

I finally heard this mixtape about 4 days after it was released on Christmas and I just have 1 question: When was he gonna stop killin shit? I mean he literally killed every single bar from beginning to end on every track. The mixtape had intense and good production, lyrically Fab delivered (of course) and his flow was crazy (also no surprise). The theme he carries tremendously and his content is relevant and worthwhile for the listener. The only weakness are his hooks with tracks like "Swag Champ" but Fab is still dat NIGGA!! I been sayin it but people like to sleep on him. He is true to this, not new to this. This mixtape is a must must must if you are looking for some talent in your collection.

My fave song off the mixtape...it was close----

Black Ice: Def Poetry Jam

This poem written by Philly poet Black Ice is something phenomenal. You might remember him from Fabolous' album "Real Talk" displaying some of his lyrical abilities and droppin some knowledge. He was also the first spoken word artist to be signed to Def Jam by Russell Simmons, after discovering him at a NYC cafe. I love this piece because he explores Race and Rap.
Our businessmen and soldiers have definitely been corrupted by the constraints placed on us in our communities and we don't even realize. I mean, lets look at a typical innercity community: 90% of the households are single-parent, there is excessive pollution and violence, inadequate schools, limited access to resources (quality food, healthcare, social services etc), no centralized leadership, drugs, and hostility (amongst other characteristics). Inner-city's are viewed as the place where we as Americans, don't want to live or end up. We want to live that good ol American Dream and live in the clean, safe, suburbs with no corner stores, liquor stores, and drug dealers standing on the corners. There are organic grocery stores, clean rec centers, schools with qualified teachers and up to date books and technology. Shit I want to live there lol. This "taboo" and "unattractive" inner-city lifestyle is extremely profitable, as innercity lifestyles are exploited by wealthy Surburbanites who sign these ni**as to shuck and jive and tell the stories of the ghetto and brag about jewels and money that we all dream about that most of them don't even have-- but the person who signed em does! They create these communities, hold us back keeping the pot small enough for them, then make even more oney off of our obstacles and struggles. Clever bastards!
My solution: Keep it in the Family. Nipsey Hussle and Jay-Z have the right idea. WE need to own the rights to distribution, publishing, production, promotion, and whatever else it takes to let these artists shine, grow, and keep their $$
